5 Ways to Transform Your Teslas Interior
Updated: Jul 24, 2023
If you’ve been on the road lately, you probably notice there are now more Teslas than ever seen regularly, particularly the model 3 and Y. With Tesla only offering five paint choices and two interior color options, it's hard to stand out from the crowd. Well, in this two-part series, we are going to change that; I'm going to show you a few ways to customize your Tesla, starting with the interior.
Seat Covers
The First thing I've done is change the colors of my seats from white to red using these custom-fit seat covers from Taptes. They cover the front and back seats, come in over 15 different colors, and you can get them in Nappa Leather or Vegan leather. The design copies the Teslas OEM look but features perforated middle sections to continue working with the seat heaters. Installing them is pretty easy and took me around 30 minutes for the whole car. They just slide on, and you use these hooks to keep them in place as well as straps that run underneath the seats. As you can see, they fit perfectly, and you can hardly tell their covers. The quality is amazing, and since they provide extra padding, it feels more comfortable than the factory seats. Also included is an armrest cover. These are a great way to customize your interior and protect your factory seats from wear and damage. This dramatically changed the look of my interior, and I've gotten tons of compliments since installing them. If interested, you can get them for all model Teslas including the S and X.
Dashboard and Center Console Covers
The Next way you can change up your interior is by changing the look of your dashboard and center console with these dashboard covers by HILLS. Tesla only offers two options for its interiors, either white, but with the HILLS covers, you can change it up to 5 different colors of real wood: walnut, maple, Black Ash, Ebony, and Purple Heart. Or, for a more sporty look, you can get them in real carbon fiber. I have the matte carbon fiber covers, but they also come in a gloss. All of these options are for the dashboard and center console, and if you have a Gen 2 model 3 or y, the door panels also complete the look and tie it all together. The covers take just 5 minutes to install; simply clean off your original dashboard, center console, and door panels, then peel off the backing on the new covers and place them on top of the original, pressing firmly down to make sure they’re attached. These covers instantly upgrade and protect your interior, and I like that the carbon center console cover features a key card holder, which is a nice touch. The quality of these covers is top-notch, they have UV protection and Polyurethane coatings, and all come with a 2-year warranty. Custom Steering Wheel
Upgrading your dashboard and seats transforms the interior, but let's take it further by upgrading the steering wheel. In my opinion, the stock steering wheel is a bit boring, which is why I upgraded to this custom carbon fiber sport wheel by Tylard, Which upgrades the basic circular wheel to a sportier wheel with sport grips, a flat bottom, and features real carbon fiber and Perforated Leather. You can also get it in this cool fighter jet Style or the infamous Yoke if you’re feeling crazy. The cool thing is they’re all fully customizable; for instance, you can get regular leather or Alcantara in 7 different colors instead of perforated leather. The wheel can be normal, regular carbon fiber, or forged carbon fiber in both matte or gloss finishes and five different colors, the stitching is available in 6 different colors, and you can even change the Tesla logo to carbon fiber. Installation is fairly simple, just remove your old steering wheel and transfer the airbag and components to the new one, then install it onto the car. If you have a heated steering wheel, you can also include the option for it on the new one. These steering wheels upgrade the look, and the ergonomic design enhances driving comfort and gives you a much better grip. Use my code MS for a huge discount at the link below.
Screen Swivel Mount
This next one is more practical than looks, adding a swivel mount to your screen, giving you a better view of the screen to have a safer and more comfortable driving experience. Adding this mount lets you tilt your screen left or right; I have the older model, but the new one also lets you tilt the screen up and down. I didn’t think this upgrade would make much of a difference, but after driving with the screen tilted towards me for the first time, it completely changed the driving experience, making it feel more personal, giving me a feeling of being in a cockpit, a similar experience to driving the Corvette C8 which has the infotainment screen tilted towards the driver. Installing it took a bit of patience but wasn’t too bad at all; I made a YouTube short on the installation, which you can watch here. This product is also from Tlyard, and you can use my code MS at the link below to get a huge discount.
LED Ambient Lighting
The last thing I did to customize my interior was added ambient LED lighting to the front and rear of the car, giving the interior a nice touch when driving at night. Similar to the experience, the comes stock with new BMW, Audi, and Mercedes cars, even in most Kias, Hyundais, and other brands. The lights look cool and give you a sense of relaxation when driving. The lights are added to your dashboard, center console, rear seats, and all 4 footwells. You control the lights via Bluetooth through an app on your phone, which lets you change the color to any color you can imagine, adjust the brightness, and set the light pattern. You can make them static, flash, fade, pulse, and you can even have them dance to the beat of the music you play in your Tesla. I previously made a full video on these lights, including the installation process, which you can check out here. These lights are for both Model 3 and Model Y. I know this one isn’t for everyone, but if you want them, you can get them via the link below.
